Yoga Etiquette

Sometimes it is nice to know the little nuances.

  • Please come to class in comfortable clothes that you can move in.
  • Classes are barefoot and sticky mats are needed. Rental mats are available or you can purchase environment friendly mats at the studio.
  • Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach.
  • Drinking water is beneficial before and after practice to stay hydrated and to help flush toxins.
  • Please come if you are running late, be mindful for where the class is at. If there is meditation wait until after to unroll your mat. Please come in quietly. If you need to leave early that is fine, but honor the practice and take some time for your savasana.
  • Please let your teacher know ahead of time that you need to leave.
  • Please remove shoes before walking through the studio.
  • Please keep chatter to a minimum before and during the practice, honoring other students in the space.
  • Avoid stepping on another’s mat (on or off the mat).
  • Please sign in and if you are new fill out a registration form.
  • Try to drink water before and after practice, if possible avoid drinking during practice.
  • Please tell your teacher if you have an injury, are pregnant or need special modifications.
  • Be mindful of others’ sensitivities and refrain from wearing any perfumes, colognes or any strong scents. Breathe.

Yoga means union. Of all the unions none is more meaningful or fulfilling than the meeting that takes place within when an individual gets to meet with his or her own self
